Tyres save lives and, more importantly, substandard tyre conditions destroy lives. AMS has pulled together some information and tips to keep you as safe as possible.
The legal limit for minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres, across the central ¾ of the tread around the complete circumference of the tyre. For safety reasons it is recommended that you replace your tyres before the legal limit is reached. Watch this video to find out how to check your tread depth.
Your tyres aren’t only made unsafe by worn treads. Tyre damage can be caused by any number of reasons – it’s vital you inspect your tyres regularly for other types of damage.
Tyre pressures are important for a number of reasons. Incorrect tyre pressures can result in impaired grip, increased wear, increased chances of blow-outs and increased stopping distance. Don’t take the risk, check your pressures regularly and keep them at the correct levels. Most supermarket petrol stations have free equipment and it only takes a minute.
These tips show you how easy it is to keep an eye on the quality of your tyres. If you’re worried about anything, pop on down to AMS and let us take a look.
